Snake River Guitar Works Amplifiers (TM). Hand-wired, all-tube guitar amplifiers. Due to the high cost of assembling an amplifier that is wired point-to-point, a very limited number of these can be made. Each Snake River amplifier is hand built one at a time. No expense is spared to produce a high-quality guitar amplifier that can go head-to-head with the best amps by any builder from any era!

Pictured here is an amp that was inspired by those 1960's vintage Vox AC30 guitar amplifiers as used by Brian May of Queen, The Edge of U2, and Rory Gallagher (and, uh...oh yeah! The Beatles!).

The Snake River Amplifier is a three channel amplifier (non-switching) with the following features:

  • Three preamp channels - Pentode, Triode, and Cathode Follower. This amplifier is flexible with three unique voicings!
  • Jensen Copper Paper-in-Oil signal capacitors - The Best! Expensive, and worth it!
  • Carbon Comp Resistors in the appropriate places
  • Separate Cathode Bias supply for each EL84 tube - each tube sees and takes only the exact amount of current that it needs! This gives a very three-dimensional sound.
  • Custom Wound Output Transformer, Power Transformer, and Choke
  • An audio signal path that is routed logically with minimal wire length for maximum tone and detail. No rats-nest wiring!
  • Vox Blue Bulldog Reissue Speakers (x2)
  • ATA Approved Flight Case Included
  • Tubes include EL84 power tubes (x4), GZ34 rectifier tube (x1), 12AX7 preamp tubes (x3), and an 5879 pentode preamp tube.

List Price: $3695 plus shipping (orders not currently being accepted)

If you want to hear what my amps can sound like when driven by a treble booster, listen to the Crispy Cream sound files. These sound clips showcase the amp at max volume. The amp is full of Vox-like jangle, of course, if you play it at lower volumes.

These amps are named after the Snake River (western USA) due to my love of white-water rafting.
